Jack rolled his eyes at his sister as she giggled softly, pushing her red hair back behind her ear. She gave Malo a wink, not at all being subtle about it.
“Perhaps you should go for a walk, Angela.” Her brother said cooly, “Be a good girl and perhaps I’ll buy you a lollipop later, or whatever it is girls like you enjoy.” With that, he pointed to the door and scowled.
He was hopeful for a moment as his sister rose from his seat, wondering if he had finally gotten rid of her but became horror stricken when she approached Malo and gave him a long and passionate kiss. Quickly, he grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her away, but not before she had her fill.
“Mmm, you taste like liquor. Jack doesn’t let me have it.” Angela cooed
The subtle gesture from Angela did not go unnoticed. In fact, Malo paused with his brief outburst, hazel eyes following the young woman as she approached him. Usually, he would lower himself into a bow. Usually, he would take the woman’s hand and plant a kiss, ever so soft, upon her hand. Usually. Usually. Yet, all he could do was widen his eyes at the kiss, his breath briefly catching in his throat. He hadn’t expected the bold advancement, especially from a woman.
“Erm… I, ah,” he muttered, his usual sly and content demeanor so far away. Instead, he cleared his throat as he turned to face her.
“-then, mademoiselle, I shall be happy to accompany your curiosities someday,” he retorted. Clearly mannerisms were absent, especially since he barely knew Angela - or Jack.
He glanced at Malo, most displeased. If there was one thing he despised more than loud noises and small children, it was people giving too much attention to his sister. He did not release her shoulders as he spoke.
“There will be no alcohol for you, my dear.”
“Please, Jack?” She said, trying to turn to face him, “I’ll only drink a little. I just want to spend my time with you and your handsome new friend.”
He sighed, for he knew that as long as Angela still had any energy left in her, she would not drop the subject. He let her go and she scampered back to the couch where she took up her previous position.
“You may stay. You may drink one glass of champagne. But you are not to be a nuisance and you are not to behave in the way you just did. I raised you to have more dignity than that.”
Angela looked sheepishly down at the feet and mumbled a small ‘sorry’. Her brother sighed and went to the kitchen to pour himself a large drink of something strong.
“Do you need a refill for your…whatever it is you’ve got there?” He called back to Malo
As he reached the top of the stairs, he laughed at his words. “Oh quite attractive. She’s a beautiful little thing.” He licked his lips as he spoke and walked towards the door to his room. He pulled a key from his jacket pocket, and quickly forced it into the lock, before opening the door. He stood aside for Malo to enter before answering his second question.
“Plans? Oh? I thought we’d drink, talk, all that nonsense.” He shrugged and stepped inside to the elegant little room. Much to his displeasure, upon the loveseat, sat a young red headed girl, who could not be a day older than eighteen. She sat up a bit straighter upon seeing her brother and the stranger enter, and gave her sweetest smile.
“Oh Jack, have you made a friend?” She asked, in a charming voice, much in the same manner as he brother’s. He simply laughed at her and shooed her away with his hand, yet she remained where she was.
“Is he here for you to have sex with or is he here for you to murder?” Her voice did not waver and she asked as if she were simply asking for the time. Jack stared at her in a most hateful manner and immediately gave Malo a look as if to say “She’s quite insane”
The alcohol was all too present on the musician as he took another drink. The lights, the enclosed space, the thickened air was quite the difference from the outside world, and yet the only problem Malo found was that it lacked the brisk chill. Didn’t someone close to him once comment something about alcohol making one warm, or cold, or… well, whichever. He couldn’t remember. Not that it mattered, of course.
For right now, there was a lovely lady before him.
“Oh-“ he started, yet her words shot through him like ice. Here to… to what? No, that was nonsense! A low grumble emitted from Malo as he narrowed his gaze, irritably placing a single hand on his hip. With his other hand, still tight around the neck of the bottle, he pointed.
“Indeed she is! As if -I- would ever… ever -subject- myself to such actions…! Urgh, disgusting really…!”
Jack rolled his eyes at his sister as she giggled softly, pushing her red hair back behind her ear. She gave Malo a wink, not at all being subtle about it.
